Hilltop Wellness Resort has recently teamed up with the Monsoon Tea Company based in Northern Thailand, selecting their vibrant forest-friendly teas for our retreat guests.

Monsoon Tea Company specializes in wild and free-grown teas from the original Camellia Sinensis Assamica tea plant, an undomesticated tea plant native to northern Thailand.

Less than one percent of teas worldwide are made using Camellia Sinensis Assamica making this a very rare and unique tea.

For the Monsoon Tea Company how the tea is grown is as important as how it is processed. Unlike the domesticated camellia sinensis sinensis, which is grown on large commercial plantations, their tea grows in its natural environment and does not require logging of large forested areas in order to be planted.

It is also more robust than the domesticated tea plants used in monoculture plantations and possesses natural defenses against insects and parasites. Hence all of their teas are organically grown and free from herbicides and pesticides.
